Deviantart has always been for me, and for many others, a place to slowly put ones feet it and test the waters of the art world thoroughly. In my early teens I came to know it by its oversaturated genres, its strange fascination with various kernals of pop culture, and the communities within communities that banded together over mutual determination and friendly banter (or strife). Pretty much an average, human structure, with the intricacies that one finds in a school yard or a workplace.
And I loved it for those reasons. It gave me a 'secret place' that was both mine and millions of others in its paradoxical nature, where I could post my (on retrospect) atrocious art and be passionate and envious of others. It is the refuge I would account for any artistic skill I hold today in its early support and creative nourishment.
And now, years later, I still come back to it - Sometimes days or weeks pass in between periods, but I come back on. And now as I take a more active interest again, I cannot help but revisit old nooks, see old friends pages, and marvel.
And I feel very blessed to be a part of it.
My own thoughts have changed and shifted as I've aged, but not much at all - To see some of my older stuff is a little terrifying, but still a fantastic time line. Now a days I illustrate more and more stories - If you're up for a chat, always feel free to drop a line. My prominent work here will be on a particular group, but I'm always open for conversation.
For if one thing has not changed, it is that we are here to grow.
