Loosely inspired by Mewithoutyou's song 'The Soviet' - Or just a writhing mess of foxes. this one has been sitting around my room for a while now, and it was only yesterday that I got around to sitting down and finishing it. So, here we are.
(On another note, this is a hat tip to =Culpeo-Fox - His work is brilliant, and has driven me out of an art block often a time. How can a fox not? )
While the fox is a much-used subject in art, I haven't seen them being portrayed quite like this before. This work seems to 'fit', there are no parts that feel awkward despite the twisted movements of the foxes. The fairly limited colour palette, stains and drips pull the work together without making it seem boring. Although I cannot help but feel like the composition is leaning slightly out of balance to the right, it does not distract too much. My eyes keep getting drawn to individual foxes, trying to figure out which way their bodies are twisting. Beautiful work that holds your gaze!
